In our last lesson, we went through the process of deciding what information to collect and how to lay it out.

Now we’ll make it work.

You’ll first need to decide what info you want to make required. After that, we will put our hands on the “back-end” part of the form - the Form to Mail script.

As the name implies, it accepts data on your form and allows you to email it to wherever you want. You can also populate databases and a few other things, but we will stay with the emailing because for the average web site owner, that’s what it’s used for.

In our last lesson, we went through the more advanced form elements you would find in most forms. Hopefully, you did a little practicing . . .

Now it’s time to start putting it all together!

The design and layout of your form is as important as the function. If your user cannot understand what you want, or if the overall flow is confusing, then they will not fill out your form.

We’re going to build a sample form for gathering information. So let’s begin!

Advanced Form Elements

The INPUT tag is not the only tag that can be used to create form elements. In this section we will cover advanced form elements, such as Textboxes, Selection Lists, and Buttons. These form tags greatly increase your form building flexibility on how you collect your data, or present your forms.
